This learning and development service was offered, working with my partner and consultant, to facilitate the development of Chi Limited’s salesforce. Chi Limited is a market leader in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector in Nigeria. The task was to inculcate effective selling techniques in the minds of Chi Limited’s salesforce across Nigeria, to further improve on know-how, company sales practices, and modern techniques to improve on overall physical and financial sales targets.
We set out to the marketplace with select sales teams for a month to evaluate gaps in their selling techniques. We assume, based on findings that observed selling techniques are traditional to the conglomerate, and therefore, is the practice across branches of the company across Nigeria. Following this, we developed a comprehensive curriculum to resolve identified selling gaps. With selling course ready, sales teams were trained in batches – Lagos Headquarters, Ibadan branch, Asaba-Onitsha branches, Kaduna branch, and Abuja branch.

The results were outstanding. There was about 4 per cent improvement in sales over the quarter, following the learning and development programme. We recorded improvement in self esteem of participants as well as improvement is persuasive selling.
